About Us
Background
Unreal Podcasts is a fairly new podcasting venture aiming for a large, tentative audience which was created by an aspiring web developer looking for a project; Unreal Podcasts was born. We began not too long ago in late 2006 with the initial unveiling of UnrealPodcasts.com and the Photoshop HelpCast. Since then, the company has grown greatly and has gotten much more serious.
What is Podcasting?
A podcast, in very basic terms, is an article with some kind of media files associated with it. The media may be available in a variety of ways, such as streaming, downloading, or especially syndication. This is what makes a podcast special.
Syndicate allows viewers to subscribe to the podcast and have the episodes automatically download as they become available. One of the most popular ways to subscribe is with Apple iTunes with or without an iPod. A viewer simply browses the podcast directory within iTunes, and selects the shows they want to view and can quickly and easily download them. The word podcast was actually coined along with the invention of the iPod when the first podcasts were created especially for the new portable media player. So, now that we have a basic understanding of what a podcast really is, lets learn some more about what this website can offer you.
Current Shows
Currently, UnrealPodcasts.com is running 2 podcasts. First off, we have our flagship podcast The Photoshop HelpCast, which we mentioned briefly before. This podcast, with Dan, focuses on what the title says; helping the common user with Adobe Photoshop. This show goes all the way from simple beginner techniques to far more advanced techniques that the intermediate user would be able to take advantage of.
The next podcast currently available from UnrealPodcasts.com is the GuitarCast. This show, with Nate, aims to be a free alternative to guitar lessons. Nate is starting out with the easiest material, and is going to progress to the tougher elements of the guitar. He hopes that if you follow the podcast from episode 1 you should be able to learn to play the guitar fairly well.
Our Website
UnrealPodcasts.com has recently been redesigned and rebuilt. With the new site comes great improvements for our users also. First and foremost, the frontend user can now have a much richer experience with our inline embedded flash players for each episode! No longer must you download an entire episode to you computer just to view it, it is ready for you at the click of a button on our website or in your favorite podcatcher! You can subscribe to our feeds in countless ways including the very popular iTunes.
